Below are the tips I believe were helpful when I was in Korea. If you would like to refer to more details about the tips, please click the document above to download it.

1.     Complete your visa processing at least 3 to 4 months ahead.

2.     Bring a backup phone just in case something goes wrong with your original phone.

3.     Plan 2-3 days ahead to order your sim card for internet access when you arrive in the airport.

4.     If a family member goes to South Korea before you study abroad, ask them to exchange money for you before you enter the country.

5.     For cheap options of accommodation, do try Goshiwon or live with a roommate in the dormitory.

6.     Use a credit card or debit card that doesn’t require foreign transaction fees.

7.     If you are planning to cook, bring a small pot and some kitchen utensils that will not take up too much luggage space (also for sanitary reasons).

8.     Always keep your transportation card with you and make sure you reload it!

9.     Always bring your passport with you wherever you go but make sure you do not lose it!

10.  Taking the train would be faster to your destination but taking the bus is more convenient and more comfortable.

11.  Do pack or buy a puffer before your Fall semester abroad because it will be cold if you are sensitive to the cold weather.

12.  Always stick with a friend when you go out at night to clubs or other extracurricular activities because it is dangerous alone.
